    meteor mk1 vs V1

here is my latest, the AMT meteor mk1 with V1.Bought it from the newark expo for ยฃ1,no box.Basically an accurate airframe but terrible undercarriage and cockpit, what can you do?.........scratch build a cockpit put in a pilot(courtesy of ICM pilots +groundcrew) and have it in flying mode. Then i did a bit of research and decided to model it with the V1 supplied. I made the base out of mdf and tried to make it look like farmland from about 500 feet up. The subject is 616 sqn meteor mk1, YQ-E ,flown by flying officer derek "dixie" dean .On august 4th flying from manston, kent,fo dean intercepted a v1 flying bomb, near ashford ,attempting to destroy it using his cannons. The cannons jammed and rather than let it go fo dean decided to tip the v1 out of control using his wingtip. He succeeded and became the first person to destroy a v1 in this manner, also the first victory for a meteor. thanks go to stona for the help regarding the acrylic rod. any comments welcome(ie whats that pipe cleaner doing on the v1!!!??)

how did you get the v1 to stay attached at such a sever angle with such a minimal point of contact? the smoke behind the missle looks great.

Hi beav, i drilled a hole in both the wing and the v1 then stuck in a piece of guitar string, the thickest one, into the wing of the v1,then bent it into a slight s shape and slotted it into the aircraft wing.thanks for the comments cheers tony.lane:

hi saul, thanks for the comments,i'm glad you like it.Its not very often you see static model planes doing what they do best is it? Kind of takes me back to your younger days when just about every plane i made went on a kit supplied stand! Remember the old airfix dogfight doubles? Two planes on one stand looking like they were about to ram each other headfirst lol!!!!!looking forward to seeing your diorama,if its anything like your eduard focke wulf it will be fantastic, cheers tony:beer:
