    D * RF Jan Zumbach sept. 1942 303 sq. Kirton-in-Lindsey

Well it was a fight to the bitter end but I got there in the end. The delay caused buy the start of the summer GB. A welcome break at that.

Her she is; a conglobulation of old (fusalage) and new airfix (wings) with a sprinkle of Tamiya (pilot, codes, special markings).

All that remains is to hang it from the ceiling over my desk, and then find a suited adversary. Any good ideas on that last one?

That looks really nice Ian, the adversary has to be a yellow nosed ME109.

Hi Ian, really nice finished kit, I am inspired to build a 1/48 spit that I have in the pile. Just a little mention but I live a few miles from Kirton in Lindsey, I also live in the middle of Lincolnshires Bomber command, and have the Faldingworth airfield about 1/2 mile behind my back garden ( manned by the Polish who flew Lancs` from `43 to `46. small world eh! congratulations on the kit.

        Gareth.

Maybe an early Fw 190, if you haven't seen/heard enough of them yet....

Not a bad idea Peter, maybe I'll get one done in luftwaffe farben this time.

Derek; you are a star! Looking forwards to seing them in the flesh ( oh er misses!)

Thanks for the kind comments Chaps. Still got two Spits in the stach, but might take a break and do some thing else for a while (yer right!) Been looking at the Edward mk 22/24. The review of it I read the other day was outstanding!!

Been looking at some of Zumbachs' victims:

Bf109s, A couple of FW190's Ju17's and Me110....The last two as interesting as they are, are a bit big for what I had in mind, so I might go for the Bf 109. Althoug easy enough to find What where and when he shot them down, it is proving rather hard to fine a specific aircraft number of any of them!!!! Zumbach was apperantly one of if not the first RAF pilots to bag a 190.
