            Hi Joe,

            I've been trying to find out what the clearance was on the real thing because as you say it's not much on the model. Finally,having ploughed through pages and pages of 8th AF documents pertaining to drop tanks and their fitting I found the answer in a report on bomb loads!

            The clearance was about 4 inches.

            It doesn't sound like it but I do enjoy this sort of research in original sources
