    Airfix 1/48 Sea Fire mk47

Been building this on the quite as there has just been a good in depth thread with the same kit.

Mine is OOB with a few home tweaks; MC barrels, drilled off and brass tube added, the camera ports where a bit empty, so I put a lens shade and lens in them.

other the seat harnesses the rest is Airfix at their best.

Paints are Xtracrylix and varnish is Vallejo.

    Hope you like it.

Fantastic 5 star build Ian! the paint and weathering is spot on , just mucky enough , and the modulation and pre shading on the sky undersides really looks great. One thing though , can we have some pics with the canopy on too LOL!!!? cheers tony

        Fabulous build Ian.

Seeing that Spitfire with all the aramanets is a bit sad - it looks truly menacing. It was always a very graceful looking plane but I think that this is removed with all that ordnance and those props.

Ian that is outstanding. A fantastic paint job with some beautiful weathering well worth 5* if I could give more stars I would. Well done.

 Do you know what. I never noticed it was not on it when I took the photos. I wonder why that went? Time for a hunt round the work top....Hmm.

I do recall it being a bit narrow, I hope it has not pinged away! If/when I find it, I'll add a few piccies.

Great job Ian, I like seeing these old Airfix kits come to life. Ok a new box, but you know what I mean. So you haven't lost the canopy have you - I've just chucked the one I didn't use !

I have found it but the thing is to narrow, no way that its going to fit the runners.... Never tried the hot water trick with clear plastic. An one knows if it works...

Failing that, where did you get that vacuform one from Colin, I might be needing one....

Hi Ian,a lovely Seafire,up to your usual standard. My next door neighbour brought me

this kit in a couple of weeks ago, asked me to build it for her so should start it soon.

I use xtracrylix but not sure of the right ones has the kit lists Humbrol colours, could

you please tell me the ones you used. Hope mine looks half as good, thanks John

Thanks John, not seen you here for a while. All Well I hope.

The xtracrylix I used was Sky for the Undersurfaces and bottom part of the fuselage and Extra Dark Sea Grey for the top surfaces.
