As we are doing a Phantom SIG build,I thought I would post these old photo's I found whilst packing up to move house in Feb last year. The first two were taken when I was a fresh faced (and slim) 18 year old junior technician at RAF Coningsby on 7th September 1976.I was on crash crew during a Taceval, which was basically a war exercise. We were tasked with simulating lifting a Phantom that had crash landed.Im the one holding the rope on the extreme left in the photo. We all wondered why the prat was standing on top of the Phantom. But as he was a Squadron Leader, nobody said anything!.In the second photo I'm second in from the left, the one with the gay hands on hips pose!.
I took this one of a 23sqdn Phantom at RAF Stanley in the Faulkland islands about a month after the war had finished. You can just make out the squadron badge of a sheep and a ship on the nose.
