    My first model

Here is my very first proper (non-kid's stuff) model. Spitfire MkIA, Airfix A01071A, 1/72, out of the box (except for the aerial wire). I haven't weathered it - I wanted it to show faults not hidden by washes. The panel lines are very crisp. Perhaps it is a new mould.

Xtracrylix RAF Dark Earth & RAF DARK Green, RAF Sky. Tamiya Clear varnish, Tamiya Flat varnish. Eduard canopy masks. Gunport tapes glued on with Micro Crystal Klear. Aerial wire: "Knitting-in Elastic" by Prym. (Search for knitting elastic). Under a bright light (daylight or incandescent light) the model's colours look roughly the same as in the photos. The canopy painting turned out better than I feared.

Thanks folks for all the help during the last six months.

      Hi Steve,

I have been reading your posts for some time now and at times thought, "Why doesn't he just get on with it?". Well, it's clear that all of your meticulous attention to detail and desire for 'how to' knowledge has really pais off with this fantastic result.

      Well done!

Wow eee Stevee Wonder that is a great model first one or not.

Very nice & precise puts my first model in the dustbin. You have some talent.

Just add Steve that there is no necessity in my book to apply weathering if that is what you want. I held off until my last model the twelth with any weathering I prefered to see the lines as out of the factory.

Of all the millions of 1/72 Airfix Spitfires made (at one time they were turning out about 500,000 a year!) this one is straight from the top drawer! That's beautiful. *****

Great job. The paint work looks perfect. As for weathering, I do, but it really is personal choice. Some models seem to call for it, some don't.
