    SAAF/SA NAVY Wasp

Here is my finally completed 1/48 Fujimi Westland Wasp as operated by the SA NAVY during the 70's up to 90's.

I wil not say I am entirely happy with it, but I am calling it done. Hunbrol dark sea gloss grey, after market decals and a little copper witr on the engine

I had to re-do the rotor head to get the proper blade droop of the Wasp. the head assembly seems to be rather "loose" giving it the look.

The canated rear wheels were to stop them roling off the SAN small vestles in the rough southern oceans.

Beautiful Wasp Theuns. NZ operated the Wasp too for a similar period of time. One of the important but mostly forgotten types I reckon.

Beautifully done , top marks , if I'm not mistaken the wasp had a sister called the scout , same helicopter but it had skys instead of landing gear.

                That's really good Theuns.

How big is it? Even at 1:48 it looks quite a small model.

Looks really good Theuns, I tried the 1/72 airfix one as a kid. Think it was the one that put me off helis, really small and fiddly.

                  Top work mate.

                  Tony.
