During the February of 1941 the RAF decided to prepare a new version of the Spitfire capable to intercept possible high quote incursions of new german bombardiers as the Ju-86.
With this aim the Spitfire Mk. VI (type 350) was developed with a higher wing area, recognizable for the triangular wing tips, and with a pressurized cabin.
Of this model only less thsn hundred were built and used in 1943, soon replaced by the more performing Mk. VII.
