1/72 Airfix Bf 109 E-3 Bulgarian Air Force

    Hi Guys!!

    News from the Black Forest....

Here's my Bf 109 E-4 in 1/72 scale. The new Airfixkit E-7 "Trop" also offers the possibility to build an E-4 of the Bulgarian Air Force.

This new tool is really awesome. A good fit and nice details. Filler is not required. Perhaps at the glue seams. The painting was done with Gunze and Revell colors. A decal is offered for the yellow "arrows" on the fuselage sides. But the color of the decals looks more orange than yellow.

So I masked the fuselage sides with Tamiya Tape and airbrushed the "arrows".

After that, a layer of "Future" followed. Now the Decals were applied. Another layer of Future followed.

The "Emil" got a washing with dilute oil paint and some weathering with different pastels.

Finally, the model was sealed with matte clear coat.

My 109 shows an E-4, flown by Stoyan Stoyanov, 3. Orliak, Royal Bulgarian Air Force at Karlovo, 1942.

    Cheers

    Stefan

That looks fantastic stefan , i love it! It seems a great kit and top marks to Airfix too for giving us an unusual decal option , I dont think Ive ever seem a 109 in Bulgarian markings before. Just the right amount of weathering too , brilliant job , cheers tony

Beautiful build Stefan. As the others have said, nice to see a different theme, and glad to hear the new-mould Airfix kit is a no hassle event.

Looks superb, now I wish I'd bought that particular boxing instead of Von Werra's 109. What are the basic colours, Stefan? Is it RLM 70 over 02?

Thanks, guys....I'm pleased that you like my bulgarian "Emil".

                          But I have a correction.....it's an "E-4", not an E-3...
