    Spitfire GB 2022 - DaveCov's 1/72 Airfix Spitfire Mk IX - Completed

My build of the Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX (02081)

I hadn't realised that this was the place to post pictures of completed builds and had only put them in my build thread.

I can't believe that this is only the second time that I have ever made this kit which was originally tooled in 1959 and which I first made in the early Seventies. The kit was slightly modified in 1975 but this is a 2005 boxing complete with dodgy kit decals. They were off-register, stuck to the backing paper in lots of places and were a trial to get them to stay on!

You can read about this build here.

    Dave,

Despite the age of the kit and your problems, this has turned out very well indeed.

    Well done.

Looks really good Dave. Shows what can be made from these old stagers.

Great result. As Tim says these old kits can build up well. Just need skill and some extra work.

Very well done Dave, beating an old mold into shape.
