Another Bell AB-47

I picked this Italeri kit up at a market stall selling house clearance stuff - cost me just £3. Some tricky parts but fun to build. Fit was generally very good, only the doors needed fettling, but the framing looked too thick so I left the doors off, as on many examples of the 1:1, and Theuns' excellent build of the same kit. Paints are mostly Tamiya, with Revell Steel used for the engine, follo wed by a Humbol black wash.

Well that came out nice. Looking at this, I might have to try another wingless aircraft soon.

I can recommend this kit. Needs a bit of thought to work out exactly where some parts have to be placed, and it's pretty fragile, but I enjoyed it. Haven't built a helicopter before, but I have 2 more in the stash.

I've been thinking the same thing Colin.

Nice job. I do like helicopters. That one does look very fragile. Did the tail come as one part or did you have to glue in the struts?

Alex, it's surprisingly strong, but very flexible. The tail is basically 3 pieces, a top and 2 sides, forming a triangular cross-section.

Nice job Peter. I've got this kit in my stash, might have to drag it out.
