Raf North africa

did any hurricanes that belonged to RAF North Africa fly with fuselage roundel with just the blue white red target ?

I've just wrecked one of mine but I don't have a large enough one with the yellow trim

Sorry mate but I'm sure that the yellow edge was on all RAF birds by that time.

That's what I figured Ian all my reference material and searches came up with the same info

Guess I'll get the spitfire decals from Hannants , I only need the roundels and there the only ones I can find in 1/32 scale

        Thanks Ian

What size kit is it Alan?

I have some spare roundels with or without yellow edges. They are 1:48th though.

Thanks for that Adrian but unfortunately its 1/32 scale , I have about five pairs in 1/48 but the only 1/32 I have are the under wing ones

Thanks for the offer though mate I appreciate it

Alan, I shall rummage in the spare decal box in the morning. I'm pretty confident (not 100%) that I saw some suitable decals in there earlier. If I do have them I'll post them off. If the Royal Mail keep up the good work you won't have long to wait

              Cheers

              Steve

I don't want people to think I'm just on the scrounge,

                  Nobody will think that !

If I've got them in a box you might as well have them to put on a model. I've got a few RAF decals accrued over the years which I'll never use.

                  Cheers

                  Steve

I know nothing about planes didn't even know they had yellow round the roundels, what did that signify.

I don't know Ken I think and I must admit I don't know for sure but the roundels on early aircraft were the target sort on the wings and fuselage up until the mid thirties then had a yellow ring around the fuselage and sometimes under the wings while the top of the wings had a big blue circle with a red centre , how and when this happened I'm unsure of

I never understood the red and blue roundel thing the British flag is red white and blue why did they do away with the white or am I opening a can of worms.

                            Camouflage reasons I would think.

As joe says it was most probably a camo thing two dark colours would be indistinguishable from a white and non reflective
