Best 1/48 spitfire kit

I've been pondering getting a spit but I don't know that's the best to get ,

I've seen the revell 1/32 but I don't know how good a kit it is so I thought maybe a 1/48 might suit me better

What I'm after is ease of build but quite detailed and im not bothered what version so any help you can give I'd be grateful for

In 1/48, Eduard Mk IX or the new tool Airfix Mk Vb, both build up into fantastic looking Spits and both fall together, I would say that the Airfix kit builds a little easier IMHO.

I do fancy that Revell one though.

Although I've only built one so far, I'd recommend an Eduard kit - construction is quite easy, fit is brilliant & the detail amazing!

I've read good things about their IX kit.

Best Spitfire as is Ease of build, Detail, Shape.

The New Airfix looks good, is fair priced. The Eduard ones are good and expensive. For value the ICM are pretty darn good but can be a challenge to build. (And I think that they look right).

Loads of detail good fit (the ones I have built) and cheap. Down side. the decals are totally naff.

Just checked them out they do a fare few kits and look good, another maker to add to my list.

The Spitfire Mk IX, the Eduard Royal Class edition.

Thanks for the info guys , I think I'll do the airfix one I was unsure if it was new tool and seeing as a few have built it that's the one I'll go for

If you want a 1/48 Mk I or Mk V then I think Tamiya is a good option.

The other thing I better point out regarding ICM kits are the locating pins or rather the lack of them. A good few of the kits do not have them. Some find it a pain in the **** Others are not so bothered. I actually like the fact that they are missing as they can at times just be to large and make dimples in the out side surface that needs filling.

Most of the aircraft they do have motors included so you can pose them cowling's off.

Well I got the tamiya one in the end because the only two that hobbycraft had were the MkI and mk12 and I didn't want to take the chance they were old tool

I'm not disappointed the cockpit has some nice detail and it's not rivet ridden

Something I don't understand there are two decal sheets one is normal and the other has the shapes of the decals but they are all blank

That sounds like underlays to go under the coloured decals to prevent the camouflage colours bleeding through. I've never used them myself so can't say if they are necessary or not.

Oh I see Steve thanks for the info

I have just picked up a dogfight double for for £18 and no wonder it's so cheep both the messy and the spit are old kits , something I wanted to avoid
