Fleet Air Arm Museum fantastic service

I wrote to the Fleet Air Arm Museum asking for info. Would you believe all that I got from them.

Is that not very nice. Just remarkable.

Also did the same for the Swordfish. They are very nice people. Naturally I sent a letter of thanks and two pictures of my. Swordfish. I really am gob smacked that they are so kind to take the trouble they have.

Yes you are right Dave. Also notice as I found with the Swordfish that the rigging is not round. Also the turn buckles at the end of the rigging are very slim no more in size than the actual rigging and very streamlined.

Also, as I guessed, the rigging is silver which I have no doubt is the galvanising. The Revel instructions say black. Even if it was painted black it would be torn off in quick time. Galvanising is notorious and not easily paintable. Then they did not have the sophisticated primers available to day.

Also interesting is that the rigging even the main wings are only just over half an inch 13mm. At 72 scale the rigging is less than .2 of a millimetre. The elastic stretch I have the smallest available (jewellery stuff) is .25 of a millimetre. In your case Dave at 48 scale .27 of a millimetere. So they are very fine. Most models I have seen have thick black and it does spoil the daintyness of such a beautiful aircraft

That's pretty nice of them actually, many museums would just send back a simple one-sentence reply :P

Well I wrote to Hendon first as they also have a Walrus. But not a reply or acknowledgement. RAF

So wrote then just after Christmas. Very patient as I suspect they were on full alert during the holidays. There it is today. Cannot believe their generosity with their time.

Good old RN Fleet Air Arm. Think they are now known as Fleet Air.
