    Trouble is MOD have realised that there are virtually no MIL SAR operations within the uk and almost all the call outs are for civilians, so why is the military paying for a civil rescue service. Sell it off and the money saved can go to something else, wont be the same seeing these;

      I have a recollection that the MOD were paid by another government department to provide SAR cover, that was certainly the case for the SAR Nimrod kept at readiness - at the request of the CAA I think.

      All things come to an end and the Sea King was overdue for replacement, all the aircrews I knew wanted a better airframe.
      On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
      Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
      Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.
