Inbox review of 1/72 TU144

Ok here's the inbox review of the TU144 in 1/72 the first thing is the size of the box which could be almost half the size it is when you see all the space inside


Anyway you get a large bag of sprues and a separate section for the wing section and fuselage a 20 page instruction manual a large transfer / decal sheet and 2 small sheets with flag and interior cockpit instruments panels whether it's worth £250.00 is debatable but that's the going rate as it has to be imported from Russia / Ukraine expensive cockup if it goes wrong the mouldings look crisp with no sign of flash so it should go together relatively cleanly there are several variations during the construction such as nose down with canards extended and undercarriage or clean version with wheels up and canards retracted also one version had slightly different wing tips to the other which is included with this kit


Finally there's 2 full colour 3 way diagrams showing decal placement and exterior painting colour depending on which version you pick

Nice review Colin , ive wondered what these were like . You dont get an awful lot for your £250 do you!! I suppose its an import issue as some of the larger Amodel kits are close to £200 too , bit of a bugger though when you consider the Revell (airfix/heller) 1/72 concorde which is a similar size kit ,can be had for around £20. I know its not a state of the art moulding or as rare a subject as the TU 144 but its about the same amount of plastic . That said I'll be looking forward to seeing the build , its going to be a mighty impressive looking 'Charger' when its done , cheers tony

Thanks for the comments as this is my 1st what's in the box review I didn't really know what to say so kept it brief and let the pictures do the talking yep it is expensive but i got an unexpected £340 bonus from work and as I have the 1/72 Concorde from years ago been looking for the TU144 to go with it


Crazy thing is about 20 years ago possibly longer there was both a Concorde & TU144 from heller both cost about £10 each I bought 2 of each all of which were lost werecked etc that being said the charger from them days consisted of about 50 pieces so detail and accuarcy were not top of the list unlike this new one which has I believe 475 pieces so should build into an impressive model I've had closer look at the undercarriage and it includes hydraulic hoses lights and all sorts of tiny details I think there are more parts to the undercarriage units than the entire old heller model of old anyway we will see when I start the build
