a-10 thunderbolt 2 revell 1/48 upgrades?

Hi there chaps,


After having two mini strokes I'm trying to get back into the modelling mojo.


I recently purchased a 1/48 revell A10 from for sale here and think it may need a new cockpit seat etc and looking around I saw the aires set for hobby boss. Looks to be well detailed and correct for the A10 thunderbolt.


I'm hoping it will fit but I would like to ask advice here first if anyone knew the kit and would this upgrade fit this kit.


Also looking for the Gau Gatling gun upgrade too and would this fit this kit?


Looking to do an Iraq war version( think they were involved in the first gulf war

Was thinking that and ref pics are still to be sourced but looking to see if after market upgrades will fit it, don't want to spend extra then find fit issues, I'm sure you understand

I looks like its a digital camo from what little I can see, the armament looks standard for what you can get in the box.

Well I'm defiantly going with the terminator salvation A-10 thunderbolt but need some advice from all you lovely people out there. I'm looking for the USAF ghost grey colour paints. I've been doing some research and the majority of the A-10s are painted top surfaces dark grey and the undersides light grey.


Looked at some of my paints and Revell I'm not sure of exact colour, Tamiya the same and I like using the Vallejo paints but I ain't got em all........ Yet!!!


So any of you out there know what USAF ghost paint are?


Not done much worthy of any pics yet but they to be posted soon.

There are a few after-market decal sets - I have a couple for my tamiya one. I can look them up tomorrow but I got them from Hannants. I think they have the fs colours for the paint scheme and pretty sure some of them are from the gulf war too with the two tone grey scheme you are after. There are paint conversion charts to show which paints match those fs colours.

This would be of great help and source of info for me thank you. I think the base colours if I can find out from your sheet etc then I can dirty and weather accordingly

It's not postable, however First set is for 354th TFW (Gulf War), Experts Choice decals.. It states that as per 1993, A-10's were painted in two tone grey scheme of F.S. 36320 and 36375, all markings painted in F.S 36118 Gunship Grey.


Second set shows two from Afghanistan, 74th EFS in Pakistan 2002 and 81st EFS in Bagram - as they were in Afghan I would assume Iraq too.


Anyway, they show 50% F.S 36559 and 30% FS 36270 - not sure what the other 20% would be though! These are Print Scale decals.

Started painting the kits cockpit tub and spent three days at it but it just don't look right so ended up in a tub of turps to clean it off and I have decided to go for the full upgrade aires cockpit set and gau 8 pe set to give it the full bad ass look


Ok slate clean we shall start again in a few days when it all arrives!!!
