    Little bit of help with this one?

    Hi Guys,

    Can anybody (bet barry can) tell me what this plane is? Im 99% sure its a neuiport but which version i have no idea. Im putting together a collection of close up photos but need the specific version if possible?

    ***It is a replica Nieuport 17 Squiff,this particular one was recently used in a film made at R.A.F Halton called 'Flyboys' due for release soon.

    It was up for sale,two more were sold in the U.S.A

      Barry, would I be correct in always being able to spot a Nieuport simply by the V shaped struts? (I'm no pro, as well you know!, but I can't recall seeing any other 'plane with similar struts),

        ***Steve,the Nieuport is what is termed a 'Sesquiplane',that is the upper wings are significently larger than the lower,for this reason they used the 'V' strut arrangement,there are a few others in this category but I think the Nieuport is probably the best known.
