I'm building a 1/48 Spitfire Vb for a mate. He'd like it to be undercarriage up and in flight, they used to supply stands with every model, but now there doesn't seem to be anything on the market specifically for airfix. any suggestions folks?

There is an alternative John.
I hang mine with fine fishing line from 3 points. 3 points is best as they tend to go into a dive position tail plane first.
But mine are hung from the u/s of a shelf plus you cannot move them. They do however look very realistic.
Circumstances prevail.

I bought a pack of these John, from Airfix. Quite a few in a pack, various sizes as well, you just have to cut a little slot in the underside of the model. You can get them on eBay, just search Airfix stands.

Also these John. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ICM-Aircraft-Models-Stands-1-48-1-72-1-144-A001-/331648442307?hash=item4d37c99fc3
Actually not a fan of stands but they look quite unobtrusive.
You can some very slender acrylic rods. Worth making your own.

Yep, use clear acrylic rod. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLEAR-ACRY...item53ff007b59
That is what I use.
Any advice welcome as I have not done anything like this before.Comment
