    First photo etch attempt

Decided to use PE on my latest model,109 G6. I studied the instructions

to familiarise myself with the parts and their fitting, one piece has me

bamboozled,(not difficult). There is a small piece of film,on it, it gives

part No. and model to be used on,above lettering are 4 for want of a

better description, windows, one end is arch shaped. I can't find this piece

anywhere on the fitting instructions, I took a look at the dashboard fittings

no sign of it. On the view of the gunsight there is shown a part that is

marked up, foil, this on an exploded view. This is the only part that looks

anything like a piece of film but there is no part No.with it,and there is no

foil in the etch kit. The film is much bigger than the gunsight, unless you're

supposed to cut one "window" out. Hope you understand my ramblings

and are able to help. Thanks John

Hi John, which kit/scale are you building? It sounds like a Hasegawa. It's a Bf109 so i might have made one! I'm a bit confused by your description, any chance of a photo?

I'm trying to think of why something would be marked "foil" on the Revi (16b from memory) gunsight.

    Cheers

Hi Steve, your right it's a Hasegawa Hartmann kit 109 G6/14 1/48 scale. Looking at your picture

which has a squared off arch appearance, looks to be going in the right direction. Afraid I've

never uploaded pics. the PE set is Eduard 49211 the film is marked FE211 I don't wish to

impose on your time, but if you have the chance to look it up I'm sure it's shown on the

set details, don't understand why it isn't mentioned on instructions. Thanks a lot John.

I seem to have spent most of today trying to upload photos. I've managed to get them in members gallery, can't get them into the post. Hope Steve or someone can help. Please take into account the fact that I started work a week before I was 15 and the nearest I got to technology was 2 speed axles and splitter gearboxes. Just an old Numpty! Thanks, John.

I've got your piccies. I'm sure this is all part of the gunsight. I've never used that set and am just trying to figure out what goes where! I'm going to phone a friend.

        Cheers

Looking at those photos John, the foil, the one with the 'windows' on is the glass for the gun sight, you just need to cut one out. Nice of them to give you four, they are a bugger to cut out!

You need to cut off the plastic one from the kit part N1, then fold the PE part nr 9 as shown. Glue that in place, paint it then glue the 'window': the HUD glass in place.

          Hope that helps.

Thanks Steve, I shall have to learn how to put pictures with posts, and many thanks

to Ian, your description I fully understand.I thought it was the most obvious solution

but it would have been clear if if they had said film instead of foil or at least put part No.

on instructions. Thanks again, your both top of my christmas card list. John
