    Swastika

Can anyone tell me why model manufactures don't include Swastikas on their decal sheets any more.

My Italerie 1/48  Ju 87 Stuka arrived today but was dissapointed with the decal sheet not having Swastikas.

Are there any after market decal sheets available that contain the Swastikas.

    Cheers

Hi Awins, actually it's a legal issue, since I think european legislation forbids nazi related symbols in articles intended to be sold to people under 18.

That's why some brands include the swastikas decals split in half

I don't think European law forbids the display of a swastika, but in Germany it is illegal to display or distribute any such markings.

Hence any manufacturer who has a German market takes the safe route of omitting them or supplying them as 2 halves. Some modellers leave them off their builds.

Alan, have a look at the Hannants website. I bought a sheet of swastikas ranging in scales from 1/144 to 1/32.

Agreed. I can clarify this, as I know a few german people and swastikas are strictly illegal. Owning this in any form can warrant a few weeks in jail

It depends on country, in Germany Swastikas are forbidden outside artistic and historical uses (can appear in documentary, art pieces, films etc, but things like video games, flight simulators, and models) are considered toys, and ineligible. I know a number of eastern European countries have similar laws, Hungary, Russia, etc.
