    Quarter turn locking fasteners

I have been trying to find a source of these fasteners in small sizes for securing canopies, boat superstructures etc. that have to be removable.

A version of these was (is?) used to hold small instrument panel sections in place on 'real' aircraft I believe.

    So far no luck.

I have also seen them in the old McGregor Digimac RC trannie boxes.

I'd really like to get some ...... small screws at the pond side have a nasty habit of suddenly turning invisible although perhaps its my specs not focussed right!

    Can anyone help please?

These type of fasteners are known as Dzus fasteners (these are usually larger and used for external panels but are also made in smaller sizes) or Oddie fasteners these have a flat portion on each side behind a bullet shaped end and are gripped by a spring a bit like a small Terry clip, Also camlock which are of US origin.

Have you thought of using neodyminium(sp?) magnets?

      Quarter turn lock fasteners

      Hi Neville,

      Thanks for that.

Yup ...... I had tried miniature magnetics but they were not really 'solid' enough although I use them for RC ariel connections etc.

I know I've seen the miniature Dzus fasteners in small sizes (4BA/6BA size) but can't remember just where.

      Thanks again.
