    Luftwaffe tyre colour?

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this in so if wrong, then please move Mr. Mod

Just looking at the colour callout for the tyres on my Fw190 and it says they should be painted flat black. I thought the Luftwaffe tyres were a dark grey colour? If so, what grey colour would they be if using Vallejo or Humbrol?

I go after the idea that rubber is seldom black. I find a touch of green works well. If an aircraft flown from grassy fields, a bit extra green in the contact area of the tyre might help it out a bit.
Other than that out and look at the cars tyres... Lol

For a rubber colour, I’ve recently taken a liking to painting the tyre with Tamiya XF-69 NATO Black and then applying an overall wash of flat black. The NATO Black is actually a dark grey that by itself is too light for rubber, I think, but black is too dark; this combination not only gets you halfway between the two but with what I consider to be a good, matt “rubber tyre” look.

I'm with Ian, car tyres aren't black, neither should 'model' tyres.

I have to agree with Jim, that's what I use.
