    PE Kit

    Hi Chaps,

Whilst thinking about what to purchase from the Telford Show I was having a look through the Hannants site and possibly going to pre order some small PE kits to complement some of my stash.

As I have never attempted PE detailing I thought a small cheap kit would be the place to start.

In my stash I have the current Airfix Focke Wulf FW189 (A03053), looking through Hannants I found that there is a PE set for the Focke Wulf Fw 189A-2 produced by Airwaves Kit AEC72141.

By having a quick scan around on the net I guess this is another variant with the difference only being that the the flexible MG 15s in the dorsal and rear positions were replaced by twin-barrel 7.92 mm MG -81Z.

Am I correct that this PE kit would be okay to have a bash with the current Airfix kit I have?

    Cheers

Hi rich , yes the airwaves set would be perfect for a not too complicated intro, and it should fit the airfix kit no probs. If i recall correctly from when i was looking at this set ,its mainly instrument panels and cockpit bits with maybe a couple of undercarriage doors too , just enough to improve the airfix cockpit without being like micro brain surgery!! The airfix kit is a nice build , maybe a bit of rivet rash but nothing a light sand wont cure (personally i kind of like the rivets!!), so with the added extras inside it will be a great model, just be ready for a masking marathon on the canopy!!! cheers tony

Cheers Tony! Think I'm also going to get the re-release of the Westland Seaking PE set too! managed to win an old kit on ebay as it was the last kit I ever did as a kid and never finished. Looking forward to the trip down memory lane. Cheers, Rich
