Help Advice needed 21st century toys kits!

    Hi Guys

I have posted this as i am seriously thinking of building an aircraft, something i havent done for over 20 years, i mainly build armour kits and thought i would attempt another aircraft, but after all of these years of building armour i dont know anything about a company called 21st century toys and their kits.

The kit i am looking at is the BF109-g in 1:32 scale, I was hoping that some of you could let me know if you have built any of their kits, and if so were they OK? or are they to be steered away from, from what i have seen of them, they dont look to bad, so if any of you guys have first hand info on them any advice would be great.

Hi tom, i think steve (stona) built this very kit ,and ive got it in the stash so i know its not a bad kit at all. Its got a reasonably detailed cockpit and a superbly sculpted pilot figure and the decals are excellent. The assembly is aided by being screwed together in places and having plugs cover the holes- its no problem and a skim of filler will leave no trace. I'd say if you can get one for under a tenner its a great buy. Have a look for steves pics . p.s I have built the 21st century Macchi veltro and that was fine too,. cheers tony

I've bought the Bf109 G-14 and the Ju87 B/R kits. I did quite a bit of research on these kits and i have to say they seem excellent value for money especially if you are looking to try out some new techniques or scratch building on bigger scale models (which happens to be why i bought them). These two kits are well worth the money. Couldn't tell you about the other ones available

The sadly now defunct 21st Century Toys kits are not bad at all. I'm building another 21st CT kit at the moment. This one will be 'OOB' no messing around.

I'd say they are fantastic value for money, the figures are as good as any injection molded ones I've seen. The detail ,and particularly panel lines, are very heavy and overdone but for the price it would be churlish to complain. The decals in the 109 kit were top draw and well researched too.

          Cheers

          Steve

Tommy, these are great kits, basic but with loads of surface detail, sadly discontinued now. They do pop up on ebay now and again. They include some of the best pilots you have ever seen!

Here is my build of the Bf109 you mention. I remember Steve(stona) being well impressed with the detail on my kit, he went and built one himself!! I am sure he will echo my opinion of these kits as will Tony (yakface)

If one does come up, get it or the Veltro like Tony built or the Stuka or the Zero!!!!!

              Cheers,

              Ron

OOPS! Sorry Tommy, whilst I was typing my blitherings, I see Mr. Steve has beaten me to it!lol

And very rudely did not mention your build which was indeed the reason I thought I'd give one a go.

                Sorry.

To Tony and Steve. No problem what so ever boys....You should know me by now, so no apologies needed now or ever.

The more info. Tommy received, the better his final choice would be, no matter what order the posts appear!!

Good luck with the build Tom. Just wait 'till you see the quality of the pilot, 'aint that right Steve?
