    hi

thinking of doing a heinkel he 111 h-6 for my next build the kit ive got is the revell 1/72 and i really fancy doing it in the russian winter 42/43 scheme. the colour scheme on the plans arent that clear ive looked on google but cant seem to find any colour photos of this scheme just wondered if any of you chaps could point me in the right direction found loads of b/w photos but no colour

I'm not familiar with that particular kit but any He111 in Europe would have been camouflaged in a standard RLM 70 and RLM 71 over RLM 65 scheme. The winter camouflage by the second winter of the war in the East ('42-'43) had become more organised. There was an official permanent white laquer available. Some aircraft were camouflaged at what we would call maintenance units and had a nice over all white finish but,and it's a big but, some were still done at Gruppe level and might have all sorts of schemes. A squiggle pattern of white over the standard "two greens" camo was quite common.

Have you got a unit,or the codes, for your intended victim? I might have something on it.

      Cheers

      Steve

Edit. It might not be relevant in this case but a black underside is possible, though I doubt it in the East..

        hi stona

yes the fuselage upper seems to be all white with a rlm65 underside the wings are rlm70/rlm71 camo with the rlm65 underwing the paint and decal info is for a heinkel he 111 h-6 of 5./kg 4 general wever russia, winter 1942/43.

the kit does give a version with the black underside and top half of rlm70/71 but says thats for pathfinder and marker missions in hungaria summer 1944

I'm guessing 5J+HN is the one you're doing. I can't find anything on that one in my limited bomber references. The scheme with the white fuselage and 70/71 wings is unusual but quite possible.

          Cheers
