New to aircraft build any pointers please.

Just treated myself to this model, it has every thing masking photo etch already painted and excellant instructions.

any tips or pointers will be very welcome, have looked at most of your builds and just hope i can produce something resembling your models.

    Cheers

Here are all the answers you could ever need:

    http://www.scale-models.co.uk/planes-helicopters/15329-f-4u-corsair-revell-1-72-step-step.html

A complete step by step of how to build an aircraft model, written and well illustrated by Valjed (Roman). Well worth a read.

With your particular kit the first part of construction is straight forward, you can build the cockpit and gun/bulkhead sub assemblies quite normally. Be very careful over the positioning of these bits in the fuselage at the point where you join the two fuselage halves. Dry fit a couple of times to ensure that the two halves come together and that the bulkhead (actually the fire wall) is in the correct position. You will have a lot of trouble fitting the engine bearers and engine if you get this wrong!

Be careful with the lower wing and wheel well assemblies too,dry fit and make sure everything is flush.

Do another dry fit with the wing assembly to the fuselage before you glue on the upper wings. You might find it easier to attach the upper wings to the fuselage and then the lower wings to the uppers, transferring any fit issues to the leading edge of the wings where a fix is easier than a step at the wing root. Watch that the lower wing doesn't get pushed slightly out of place by the wheel well assembly as this will knock on to the fit of the engine covers.

Ensure that you build the engine with all the parts properly bedded in otherwise it will be slightly over length and the cowlings won't fit. Keep checking!

I didn't have any problems with the other bits just be careful with the covers on the wing root armament, they may need a quick swipe with a sanding stick to get them to snuggle in.

You've got a very good kit there. It needs a bit of care and effort but is generally well designed and fits pretty well,it will make a very good Fw190.

Oh god should have stuck to armour at least you can cover any mistakes with some mud or snow

Thanks very much will start the pics as soon as i'm starting ,just keep reading the instructions, such a big box for a 1/48th plane it's the same size box as my 1/35th tiger and panther.

        thanks again
