Aluminium cooking foil can work - It holds it's shape well & cuts to a sharp edge - I've used Gorilla glue to fix, but CA would work as well

Thanks Dave. Will tin foil take paint?
I could see that working actually,:smiling3: I may reinforce the underside with tape to reduce possible ripping.

I was also going to use tin foil to replicate a long metal strip that holds the sea tray down where the cabin deck meets the sliding cargo door. That wouldn't require any painting at all.

The foil from Chinese takeaways tubs is much thicker & I've used it for crumpled mudguards & seatbelts, straps etc.
As long as you clean & prime well, paint sticks - not as well as to plastic, but these are delicate parts & don't take well to handling anyway............
