How do you hang a 1/48 Wellington in the air

Soon have a Wellington Bomber which due to it's size I want to hang in our small conservatory from the tie support.

How have others done this ?

It is about 550mm wide * 450mm long (22"*18").

Seems to me I need three points to hang from. One on each wing & another on the tail. Any body who has achieved this if you could let me know how you went about it. Got my own ideas but have no conscience in using other people's ideas ! I thought the best was fishing line as it is transparent.

Fishing line would be my first choice if it was indoors. Out in the conservatory I would be troubled by the effects of the sun light or the UV in it, and the effect that would have on the line. It would be a great shame to go out there and find the Welly smashed on the floor.

I might go for a very thin stainless wire. Sounds a bit over the top but rather that than a belly flopped Wellington.

I was going to say fishing line and just make three large loops.

Fond memories of my teenage bedroom. The ceiling was adorned with 1/72nd aircraft and I used to lay on my bed with the lights out flashing a torch at them. Sad I know.

I used cotton in those days of a similar colour to the ceiling. You are correct in so far as you need three hanging points otherwise the thing may rotate. Also bear in mind where draughts may come from which will cause the model to swing around.

I'm with stainless wire for such a large model. I am actually using it to rig a model at the moment in sizes of 1 mm and 0.6 mm diameter so it is pretty hard to see anyway and will be stronger and more resilient than fishing line.

I agree with Ian. Nylon fishing line could degrade in sunlight. Go for steel wire of some description.

Wire trace it's coated as well so wont scratch your Welli or damage the conservatory. get it from fishing shops and it's really thin you also get metal crimpes so no knots.
