Hello, I've started to paint as as I go along on the process of building an 1:72 N1K2-J Shindenkai and I've come to a bit of a dilemma. I tried using Testor's Grey as an undercoat because I wanted to try my hand at weathering as well, but it comes out too glossy for my tastes and too thick as well, making it hard to see the details on the aircraft. I tried it again with wash, after stripping the paint and washing it out with soap and water, now it just looks discolored with showing off the patterns and direction of where the brush was stroking.
What am I doing horribly wrong here?
Also I heard there was color pics of US captured N1K2's. If anyone has seen them, are they under a different color scheme or do they retain their original?
Thanks in advice for any help that is provided.
