    Model painting service?

I have the Tamiya F-16 and I'm looking for a service to paint the parts so I can assemble it. I don't like painting I just like assembling. If anyone knows of a good service please let me know.

    Hi Sinebar,

There are loads of figure only services around (a quick google will reveal all), however they seem to deal with figures, buildings and ships for wargames rather than aircraft. I've never used any but the top few on google are:

    www.jonspaintingservice.com/

    www.dragonpaintingservice.com/

    www.grandmanner.co.uk/home/painting_service.asp

    www.realisticmodelling.com/painting.asp

Now as for aircraft specific services, I think you may struggle as the painting of an aircraft is often very dependant on the construction, as pre painted finishes tend to get filled/sanded away during the construction.

For two good examples of why painting is so often intertwined with construction have a look at the following two builds:

Promodellers.com - F-16CJ build (especially intake trunking and camouflage markings)

Promodellers.com - 1/48 Resin E-2 Hawkeye (The whole model required large amounts of work before it was ready to paint! - Admittedly a slightly extreme example)

Now if you want a pro built F-16 for display I'd suggest you drop Phil Flory an email (he owns Promodellers.com - Promodeller Home and his details are on there). He is a very talented modeller and does this full time. He may even be able to work out some arrangement where you to construction and he does painting, although this would probably be fairly complicated and not just a case of "send the sprues away and assemble whatever comes back"

To be totally honest, the best way to resolve this would be to accept painting as a necessary evil and learn to do it well yourself. You might even grow to like it!

    Best of wishes

    Jamie

Thanks for all the great links Jamie. I may try the promodeller.com. I really just like to assemble but hate painting. If I have to I will just assemble it without painting.
