A amateur modeller with a vengeance!!

lease: Hi to all, i have recently taken up model making again with a few small scale jets from the Airfix Falklands War Collection Set as i made models when i was a kid, but not seriously enough to get better. But now i really want to make a really good go of it and was wondering if there are any valuable tips or knowledge i need including various products?

    hi there

start by buying a magazine or two (scale aircraft modeler.or scale aviation modeler). buy some easy build kits like hobby boss and practice.

there are sevaral up to date books out these days on model making.

go to model shows and look at what others are doing .at shows you can usualy buy all sorts of stuff that is not readily available in shops .

join ipms, and a local model club.

    look through the web sites.

that should start you off towards your own goals .above all take no notice of nitpickers .

buy loads of kits ,make loads of models and enjoy your self.

    regards

Matt, Have a good look through all the archives and pictures on here, there is a wealth of information available to newcomers here including advice and tutorials so have a good read.

As Greycap say though you can't beat practising and we ahve all had to learn along the way and make our own mistakes.

          Howdy Mathew,

I agree with the others in their postings but would add one more valuable resource i have found on the net. The following link provides alot of information and tips about plastic modeling, airbrushing, diaromas, manufacturers, paints etc. I often refer people to the site for tips and although there is no "discussion" section on the site you can ask specific questions here in the forum concerning most anything you find on the link below and someone will be more than happy to help you.

I hope that this helps and if you have any specific questions dont hesitate to ask them here.

          Have a good day,
