    decal destruction by humbrol varnish

    good morning.

    I have a tiny ... problem.

I sprayed my mig 3 model with Humbrol gloss varnish (the one in the can). Waited for 48 hours , applied the decals , used micro set , and the following day sprayed again with the varnish. ALL the decals are ruined !!!

    Any thoughts ..???

    Thanks makis

How are they ruined? Were they okay before the final varnish?

yes they were excellent . i let them dry overnight and the proceeded with the varnish. The decals wrinkled and never returned to their previous state... makis

I usually spray mist over the decals, and when dry follow with few more coats.

Sounds like some reaction with the varnish. I don't use the Humbrol stuff so I can't really offer any help with that. I always seal my decals with a coat of Johnsons Klear before weathering and applying varnishes.

If you can get hold of Xtracolor products, use their XDFF varnish! I've used it on the worst set of decals I've ever experienced and it worked a treat.

              Hope this helps.
