too much of the white stuff even though its clear!!

hi just about to complete my model of a me262 and i had a slight problem..... when i applied a coat of humbrol hobby spray for arylic paints i found that very small white dots accumulate on the sprayed area in big groups and i dont see what could cause these??? any help will be very appreciated :grinball2: will try and upload some photo's ASAP.

also i have some tamiya weathering sets that are in a small palette and im wondering what would be an effective way of applying rust and dirt to models??

    many thanks :goodluck:

Can't answer the first question as I'm not familiar with that product. As for the weathering set,yes you can use it.They can be a very effective way of simulating some wear and tear.I use ground artists pastels which do the same job. I'd suggest practicing on something you don't care about before commiting to your latest pride and joy.It is often said that you can simply wash off what you don't like but I have not always found it to be so easily done!

    Cheers

just had another look and its kinda cloudy in appearance, tried taking some photos but the camera cant pick them up sadly. the product is Humbrol model & craft Hobby spray Varnish for acrylic paint & hobby spray. it will spray on clear but when it dries these faint white clouds consisting of tiny tiny circles appear. the spray was only bought a day or two ago from hobby craft.

      happy modelling

Is the product a matte varnish? It sounds like the matting agent is not properly mixed in the medium. Make sure your varnish is really well shaken/mixed before you apply it.

Sometimes with Acrylic paint if sprayed when there is moisture in the air or passing through your commpessor you will get a clouding effect as the clear inparticular begins to dry, on and automotiver spray job if this happens we spray a coat of straight thinners over the surface and this will soften the surface and release the trapped moisture. This effect also happens if the clear is too thick when sprayed. Spray only in warm dry conditions and make sure your compressor is getting dry air with no humidity. Any moisture in the air is heated up when compressed and when passed through your spray gun the steam like particals condense and form moisture particals in your paint forming the clouding effect.
