    Rename 1/48 Tamiya Beaufighter

    I've got a Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter Mk VI .. (Father's Day present !! )..

Looks tons better made than my usual Airfix.

    But it's Decalled as ..B-RO v8324 a Mk1F nightfighter ..camo'd totally Black..as is also the other..BQ-I x8023 a MkVIF.

But I want to camo' in usual RAF ..Med.sea grey + Dk green.and have found a MkVIF in this camo'...JT-B v8443 operational Feb 1943 ,Woodvale,Liverpool.

    Prob. is where can I get ---- "JT-B(red 30").. v8443 (red 8")" Decals...

    eg:are there Alpha/Numer.sheets available.??

    Help appreciated. :regards:

Try Hannants. They do RAF red code letters and numbers 24",30" and 8". Decal sheets by Tallyho TY48012.

Have fun with their search function!

    Cheers

hi there skyman, you might want to consider getting hold of the modellers datafile on the beaufighter printed by sam publications.i found it invaluable when i built the old revell 1/32 beau, its full of photos, colour profiles plus at the back is a list of all currently available kits, decals, detailing accessories etc.it will also tell you the slight difference between the mk1and the mk6.(if you look on my gallery theres a few pics of the big revell beast!)

Thanks mate..very helpful.....Am amazed and impressed with the range of models in yr gallery.

What a pro you are and doing all the "obscure" aircraft.

Tell me how do you do decals..do u use Klear to ensure OK...do u always airbrush..and overspray with 2nd colour with masking or not .

I was going to use Tamiya Aerosol..

          Help the beginner.

im far from a pro! just an enthusiastic amateur,as for the decals i usually brush paint a coat of klear after ive finished airbrushing, then when i put the decal on i put a spot of klear on the model under the decal, this seems to combat silvering as well as softening it a bit.after they have dried(24 hr)i airbrush a coat of matt varnish to finish,or if its a natural metal or gloss finished aircraft ,another coat of klear with the brush(ive tried airbrushing klear but i found it difficult not to get runs or get it too dry and textured ,but it brushes fine in thin coats). glad you like the gallery and looking forward to seeing the beau!:smile1:
