    Humbrol Chrome spray issues

    Hi All

I have been using humbrol chrome spray paint fron the 150ml can, on a 1/48 Hawker Fury. The paint does not seem to dry properly. It remains tacky even after being left to dry for 2 or 3 days at room temperature.

I used the Plasticote chrome a couple of years ago and the same thing happenned, but I thought the hunbrol might be better as it is dedicated to modellers.

Does any one else have any experience of this and does it eventually dry properly? surely it must...

    Cheers all, Saul

Hi, I used Plasticote chrome once. Whilst it can give a high chrome finish, I found that it melted the polystyrene in places causing fine cracks in the polystyrene itself. I didn't have problems with it tackiness though. The only thing I can think of is ensuring the the paint tin is shaken well before use. Then maybe mist-coat first and let dry a about 5 min before top coat - depends on how fast the paint comes out whether the first mist-coat can be controlled. I thought I might try it again myself but next time with a protective undercoat - maybe a car vehicle grey primer.
