    English Electric Lightening

Hi all, I am thinking of building the above in either 1/72 or 1/48 scale, we have a few of the real thing around where I live as gate guards and would like to have a scale one of my own, which would be the best scale and kit make?

    Thanks

    Hi Roger

Airfix do a good quality 1/48 Lightning, and a less good but still ok1/72, which I think is also sold by Hasegawa (same kit, different box logo!)

However theCzech firm Eduard have just relaesed the Airfix 1/48 Lightning with lots of extras and more decals etc., but obviously it's a bit more pricey

The best 1/72 is probably the Trumpeter version, out here (Great Britain) for a year or so now

The Lightning is one of the greats isn't it? I,ll definitely be making the Eduard 1/48 F-1, 111 sqdn markings, as soon as I have reduced the stash to acceptable levels

    Good luck.. Saul

Thanks for the reply guys, it looks like I will opt for the Airfix 1/48, I see the one on loan to number 29 sqdn at Coningsby is being painted in camo colour scheme, should look nice when it's finished
