need informatin on 84 squadron beverly late 1970's

Hi guys..only second post to the forum and not sure where this post should go so forgive me if i got it wrong.

I have the magna models 1/72 beverly kit , and I would like to finish it in the dark earth/mid stone /gloss black finish as used on aircraft serving in the middle and far east. I remember seeing one particular aircraft at Finningly air show some time in the mid to late 70's in this finish but it had a unique motif applied for its return to the uk consisting of the words "uk and or bust" in huge red leters on the port side of the forward fuselage. just beneath the cocpit there was what looks like a vase of flowers with some wording under neath. i have tried to find details of this scheme and particular aircraft but i have drawn a blank every where. Even the 84 squadron association know nothing about it. i am sure that the cockpit section from this particular aircraft could be seen at the newark air museum for a number of years and they dont seem to have any info on it either.

Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated as this aircraft brings back fond memeorys of the air shows at RAF Finningly i used to attend every year as a child

hi mike, sorry cant turn anything up on this particular aircraft, but i know what you mean about fond memories of finningley, i used to go as a kid too.The vulcan scramble and the lightning displays stick in my mind, ive always liked the beverley and the belfast too, both sadly overlooked (especially by the kit manufacturers!) hope someone turns something up for you , cheers tony

hi yak face...did you see the siver jubile review show in 1977? that was fantastic show...i remember coming off the airfield on the bus after the 1974 show and it was stoped to allow a belfast to taxi past, the noise was fantastic...oh happy days

I have found this picture, 7th down, of a nose that apparently is 'Ex Newark Air museum' Is this the one you refer to?

I just came across this snippet of informantion. The aircraft in question was coded ā€œUā€ of 84 squadron. I am given to understand that the aircraft had to put down at Jeddah after engine trouble on its way back to the UK during the first week on November 1967. The RAF ground crew painted the title and other graffiti all over it thinking that it would land nowhere else other than at an RAF airfield. I am not sure if the one that was on display at Newark was this particular aircraft but I seem to recall someone there saying it was. I have a colour side view of the aircraft in one of my RAF yearbooks and ill try and dig it out and put it on here.

Hi again guys. I managed to dig out this colour side view. Looking at the inscription to the left of the door on the nose it seems to read "a thing of beauty is a joy forever" If anyone has any more information about the markings this aircraft carried i would be for ever in their debt.

Hi again,I understand that the 84sqn Beverleys only wore that desert camouflage briefly around 1966. This is an 84 sqn aircraft sporting those colours.

yeah thats right stona, but I think i need to be more specific regarding the post. I am actually trying to find information about the markings that were applied to this particular aircraft on its return to the uk (see previous post and thumb nail pic) I am trying to find out what the wording actualy says.
