Tamiya Avro Lancaster build.... Not mine [as if ! LOL]

So some of you might think your a dab hand at model making and attaching the odd brass bit here and there and adding the extra detail here and there well i thought i might share you guys with this link of a fella who's been making a Tamiya 1/48th Avro Lancaster for nearly 100 years ! You can gasp if you like most of my mates do !

i give the guy all the credit in the world for being able to pull that off, as what is there literally looks like a shrunken version of the real deal. However... I cannot fathom possible spending that much time on something that will most likely sit on the shelf. if he's going to sell it for like 10,000, then maybe. But i just don't think it's worth the time.

Maybe i'm just jealous that i can't do that...

I'll never beat that Lanc' model !

But myself really i feel he's showing off with the build of it and there are a few

STUPID parts he's made for it for example....

Co' Pilots seat can be lifted up and down.

The Nav' seat can rotate and swival out of the way.

          Navigator's ruler moves left/right.

          Navigators lamp moves about.

The Pilots seat arm rests can go up and down.

Rear tail wheel goes up and down and rotates 360' degrees.

Interior lights are way over scale and too bright.

Flare shute can be opened/closed and even a flare can be put in.

Elson toilet ! the seat can be lifted up [in which you can see poo', NICE]

Whats the point of doing all this when you actually can't move them

when the fuselage halves are together or has he invented a machine

that he can be made smaller so he can actually fit in it......LOL

I still think its one beautiful Lanc' model though.

          ian.

I'm 99% with you on that Ian.

I for one only build what i can see. For me once it's built then no matter how much i tell people what i've done to a kit they can only take my word for it if they can see it.

But i am not taking anthing away from his abilities. I for one would not have the time or patience to build anything like that.

I was going to start building a Tamiya Lanc after the GB but i think i might just leave it a while now until people forget about this one lol

I can see where you are coming from but what a labour of love. I just wish I had the skill, patience and knowledge to do the same. It is a fine line between engineering and model making at this level.

                Oh My God!

As Beautiful as it is I just dont get it. Well I do sort of, he's doing it a) because he can. b) because he wants to.

The ability to build such detail into a kit will never stop amazing me. Then it will zipped up, put under glass and never touched again.

I too have gone totally nuts on a kit, but its all on the outside, thus seen every day. I would never dream of doing the inside of a kit that will never be seen.

                Still wonderful stuff though.

It is truly wonderful to behold. I take your points about things unseen but he will always know that they are there. I build 90% OOB as that's my choice,he obviously doesn't which is his. I could never begin to do what he's done so I take my hat off to him.

Allyne, I've got one in the cupboard too......maybe later hey!

                    Cheers
