    1/48 Tamiya Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero

Having completed the excellent Tamiya 1/48 Zero, I would like to share some photos with you all.

The kit itself is flawless and very little filling and sanding is necessary. It also comes with four very nice and detailed figures for use with a diorama etc. You can also add a detail up set from Tamiya which includes chocks, metal seat belts and metal gun barrels.

It is a bit pricey though, but having received this one as a gift, I didn't complain at all!

I am thinking of maybe using this model in a diorama with the figures, but I'm a bit scared to try it out. (I've never built a diorama before...) Any advice on how to go about it?

I'm no diorama builder but if you can make a lovely aircraft like that I'm sure you can make a nice diorama. I'm sure there will be some of our resident dioramists along soon to give you some pointers.

    Cheers

I guess first would be to decide what you want the diorama to be. It could be something as simple as the wooden decking of an aircraft carrier to it sat on a field or in a hanger. Have a good google session on Zero pictures; should give you a lot of ideas. Then you can start to pick and choose which bits of images you like and start working out how to incorporate that into a scene for yourself.

Lovely looking aircraft, very nice. the figures look very well painted too.

You have the hardest part of the diorama completed. Cyrano has it spot on when he mentions Google Images as a great place to start your 'Research'

As it will be your first dio. keep it simple and don't over elaborate things, that will come with later efforts! lol

Have a play with your aircraft and figures on a piece of paper, ideas will start to flow. Jot these down, then when you feel ready to start take a look at the terrific aircraft dioramas on this forum for a 'How to do' type of thing...every one a cracker!

As you build you will get ideas and variations coming into your head, they do with me anyway!

Don't be concerned if you think a question you want answering appears silly, there is no such thing and the people on this forum will provide an answer toot sweet!

Most of all have a go and have fun learning as you go along.
