I use Vallejo Model colour "Green Sky" paint nr 70974 in all my Spitfires, and I think it looks about right.

Looking at the second photo you posted Steve, Where the data plate was removed, I would say that its a pretty good match for a new painted cock-pit. By the time its been dirted up a bit, the paint that is, i would say its not to far off.

60 odd years before restoration.I've got some notes on it somewhere but I'll only find them by accident! I was lucky to find the photo. One day ,when I've got enough time, I'll organise all the digital aircraft data I currently have spread over this computer and another hard drive into something a bit less like random order!!!

I have the Humbrol 78 referred to, but just to be safe I'll stop by at Manston about 10 minutes away where there is a restored Hurricane and Spitfire and have a look for comparison.

If anyone wants any pictues let me know.

Do bears poop in the woods?!?!?! Just fill the whole simcard up with as many photos you can get on it. A couple of realld good walkarounds would always be most welcome on here!!! just how many cock-pit pictures do you think you will get before they throw you out? lol.

By the bye, I have an old tin of Humbrol 120 in my drawer and that dont look to far off either. I think its out of production now but I'm usually wronge.

Check for an old (pre-reformulation) tin of Humbrol 90. That was made as a match for British cockpit grey/green. I've found an unopened tinlet of Humbrol 90 in my cupboard,it's at least ten years old but if the colour on the lid is anything to go by it's meant to be Sky. I'll brush some out next to some 78 for comparison.

              Cheers

              Steve

Very unscientific but my tin of Humbrol 90 is trying to be Sky as you can tell by its comparison with the White Ensign and Xtracrylix versions. The Humbrol 78 looks a bit green to me but is certainly closer to the elusive cockpit colour.
