    1/72 Airfix Eurofighter typhoon

The start of this build must have gone missing when the forum was "updated" lol

So i have copied my thread from pro-modeller to here, so sorry if it reads a bit funny.

This model will be displayed alongside my Gloster Meteor as a new and old display.

First impressions the kit doesnt look too bad there is a bit of flashing here and there but nothing that cant be trimmed of easy enough.

Some pics of the kit itself.

This thing has alot of decals.

Currently building and spraying the cockpit and pilot, will post some more pics when ive made more progress

Ok cockpit painted and glued toggether all fitted together well too.

Pilot painted and an acrylic vallejo "wash added". First time ive used this properly and am happy with the results. Unlike an oil wash the acrylic dries quickly and you can wash it off your brush easy.

I looked all over google images and saw grey and green flight suits, so went the in the middle with a grey flight suit with green lifevest, light grey helmet and gloves, whether this is correct or not i dont know, but its my model

Let me know of any changes i should make.

I added more of a g suit to the pilot shortly after taking these pics so he looks more like he should do

Well i got a coat of primer on it this morning just to see what else needed a coat of filler and there are still loads of places left. I used vallejo filler which as its water soluble i added a bit of water and thinned it out to a much thinner consistency and painted it on.

I've got this in my stash as part of my 29 Sqn history ( no guessing what markings I'll be using !) and it doesn't look too bad. I'm hoping to use some PE upgrades - wish I'd checked first as they all seem to be for the Revell version - doh!

I don't like the look of all that stenciling, though............ watching with interest, good luck.

    Cheers, Neil

I think that's an amazing level of detail for a 1/72nd kit. The pilot looks superb>

Thanks for the comments guys but sadly after spending another 2 hours on this kit sanding and repriming, its ended up in the big aircraft hanger in the sky aka the bin, even filled and sanded to death this thing is beyond my skills, im really disapointed in the quailty of the kit, i would say avoid at all costs.

Gonna order a tamiya (reboxed italeri kit) as they look superb and its even a cheaper kit than this was really p#ssed of at the time i spent on this thing i dont like things defeating me, i did save my pilot though, probably the only good part of this kit.

Thats a dam shame, never mind at least you wont make the same mistake twice. Good news about the pilot, he is really spot on. Dont get into the habit of bining jets though you will end up with a name that our goverment has gotten itself rol.
