1/32 Extravaganza!

    Hi everyone

    Just had to share this...

Bought these fine beauties over the last 2 months and these will definitely be getting my attention after my GB build.

The idea is a 1/32 face off of aircraft through the wars so we have:-

Roden Fokker DR1 v Roden SE5 (on order)

    PCM Hurricane v Eduard Me109E1

Eduard Me109E3 v Spitfire mk1 (did buy the Revell kit but decided to sell it on)

MDC Hawker Typhoon v Hasegawa FW 190 A8

I'm particularly excited about the WW1 aircraft (first attempt at rigging, turnbuckles etc) and the MDC resin Typhoon kit which is simply stunning!

Here's a few pics of the level of detail on the MDC kit. Check out the solid wings and the wheel well detail - awesome!

Now I think I may have some bad news. I bought the MDC kit only last week and since then I've noticed the site has gone down and the phone line is dead. It seems as though MDC may have stopped trading which is a real shame because this kit is excellent - some of the best resin I've ever seen. On the plus side (rather selfishly!) thank God I ordered when I did!

I've decided that I'm going to concentrate on 1/32 scale for aircraft now as I want to really spend some time on each kit. I've been really impressed with the work of Antonio, Steve (Stona) and Ray (Sprayman) in this scale and hope to do the same I also think they'll make handsome display pieces.

Hope you like them and the builds will be of interest.

    Cheers

    Paul

You've got some lovely kits there and some serious building to do. I'm glad to see we've dragged you over to the large side! Good luck with the builds and keep us posted,I for one will love to watch these "face offs" develop.

      Cheers

Hi Paul. Who is going to be a busy bee then, love the wheel well detail, should make a great model. I'd love to do some 1/32 again, but have no storage space, so have to stick to a couple more 1/48's then I will be relegated to 1/72, however Hasagawa have some great 1/72's priced as 1/48 but the detail is fantastic. Cheers Derek

          Hi guys

I will be concentrating on these builds but will take the opportunity to finish a few 1/48 projects along side them (I've not forgotten the Me262, 3 FW190s and a Eurofighter still to complete!) The first 1/32 builds will be the Tiffie and the 190 (which will give me opportunity to complete the other 3 1/48 190s and maybe the 262 at the same time).

I'm going to really take my time with these though as I've felt I've put a bit too much pressure on myself with the last GB. I've enjoyed it, and it's going ok, it's just I need something a little more relaxed. I'm not thinking anything beyond this as it makes my head spin!

          Cheers

          Paul

Oh! looking fowards to the WWI string bags. I have a SE 5 a on the to do list as part of my 74 Squadron collection.

That Typhoon looks a cracker. Will be keeping an eye out for that one.

              Hi Ian

Yeah, the WW1 stuff will be fun - they also are a bit more colouful - think I'll do Udet's DR.1 - as some kind of link to the WW2 stuff. Although the box art for the SE5 shows a bright red machine I'll probably go for the more familiar WW1 RAF scheme (I think it was the RAF by 1918 and not the RFC?) Anyhoo, they'll make a nice contrast to the other machines.

              Cheers

                  Hi Trey

(I think you mean Paul) anyway, the Typhoon is the next on the hit list!

                  Cheers
