Walther Catapult for V1 flying bomb

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know the dimensions of the Walther catapult for the Fi 103 flying bomb. Many references show it rather long but I saw a picture on Hyperscale which showed it rather short. Were the lengths of the catapults adjustable?

Any help is appreciated.

I'll see if I can find something but my initial reaction is that it would have been standard.This isn't just based on the considerable time I've spent working in Germany over the last 30 years....they do like a standard,it's one of the very rare things in which they match our stereotype!

There is obviously a minimum length needed to get the missile airborne and why make it unecessarily long? That would be a waste of effort which the Germans could hardly afford.

The first generation concrete ramps were 48m long and inclined at 6 degrees. Not quite your version but some good stuff here.

Edit: According to an allied report the Walther catapult "ramp" was 152' long. This equates to 46.3 metres which is certainly close enough to the 48 metres of the concrete ramps to make it feasible.
