Fixing propellors to fuselage

Hi everyone,looking for advice on fitting an assembled and painted prop

to the fuselage.The fuselage isn't assembled yet,I don't want to proceed

until I know the best way forward. The model is an airfix 1/48 Hurricane,

it's the first plastic model I've built for about fifty years,since I used to

pick up the old 1/72 kits in their plastic bags from Woolworths. I've had

the model about 7 years,one of a pair my wife bought me the other an

me109. I know I don't post much but I check the forum everyday and

get a lot of pleasure from reading your posts and looking at the wonderful

models you submit. Thanks John.

You need to let us know one thing first. Do you want the prop to turn? If you are going to take pictures I know some modellers fit a bearing to enable the prop to spin for a long time but assuming that you want a static model then a spot of polystyrene cement on the spindle will do the job.

If you are really worried about handling it you could paint the prop and prime the spinner then paint the spinner after you have glued it to the prop.

I have always assembled the prop, painted it and then glued it to the fuselage with a spot of poly on the spindle.

Hi Richard,many thanks for your prompt reply. You've answered my question,I wasn't sure whether it was normal to have the prop free wheeling or static. If it was freewheeling I wasn't sure how

to go about it,the whole assembly is built up and painted. Now I know it's acceptable to be static,

thats how it will be. Thanks again John.
