    Its supposed to be a P-51 !!!!!

Think I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew, the guy said he had started it, he didnt mention he had also butchered it !!!!

Cant comment on the butchered bit but if you have all the parts and the instructions you should be alright.... I think.

lol, he's cut the nose off to show the resin engine, which is now been stripped of the terrible paint job, the wings have huge gapping holes in them for the resin guns to go on show, 2 of which are missing.

Your right though I have the instructions to the kit and resin and PE so I should be ok, its just getting it all in order so I can make a start.

        Nah, nothing serious then,

Sorry I dont know the kit so am not familiar with how it should look. No you mention it the front of the right hand side of the fuselage does look a tad shorter that the other side......

I'm looking forward to seeing you tackle this. Builds like this have a way of honing your skills a bit and pushing the envelope is always fun ,well for me anyway. Good luck

Decided because one wing the guy cut out is so rough and there are 2 of the resin guns missing that I will use to plastic card to patch the hole and rescribe it, looks like I have to have the engine on display as I cant put back what he cut away, does anyone have a good link to colour pics of the engine on a P-51?

Thanks they are good pics and will help me lots with a new kit, I've decided to get rid of this one as I dont have the time or skills to make good all the bad bits.

Stick with it. I bought a 1/48 Hasegawa P51 kit like this with the Airies resin parts and spent 3 months on and off building it. I just thought I'd have a go and see how it turned out. I cut it to pieces like you wouldn't believe and put it back together again with parts from a Revel kit. I really thought I'd never get it back together again, but preserve fence paid off.

I was really pleased with the results and my filling/scribing skills improved massively. Treat it as a learning experience.

Well I had a little play the other week and actually repaired one wing, needs rescribing but its a start and like you all say, I will treat it as a learning excercise The flash shows the light through the repaired part a little

Thanks, I just seem to be going from one project to another without concentrating fully on one project, least I'm getting stuff done
