Behind the cockpit on the Stuka (and the He 219) on the dorsal fuselage there is a circular area that has an insert that, for lack of a better description, looks like a fan. Can anyone tell me what that is and its use? Thanks!:bow:

That is an antenna for the Peil Gerate IV or VI,an airborne direction finding system. It was fitted to Ju 87s and various other types before the introduction of the more sophisticated FuG 16 Z (whose loop antenna for the "Z" component will be familiar from other Luftwaffe types).
The fan like shape is actually a layer of conducting silver laquer on a plexiglass circle. There is a rotating antenna beneath this.
