first attemp at simple diorama base for planes

these are my first attempts at create something more than just a plain model. still learning but willing.the nighthawk boasts a few firsts for me..brass etching on the air ducts(which i cocked up with way too much superglue that i didnt notice till after painting.....lesson one) and first time using an airbrush and compressor that were kindly given to me by a freind(which i cocked up because every little scratch and mark shows up under the paint that is normally hidden when brush paintind)...lesson two.

Don't worry Andrew, we are all our own worst critics and no-one would have probably noticed anyway if you hadn't have told th few million people who read this!!

You've just demonstrated perfectly though what a huge difference a very simple base makes to any model and allows it to take on a whole new level of realism. If you do nothing more than glue a piece of wet and dry to a picture frame and stick the model on it you will find it looks so much better than being suck on a shelf. I think you have done a great job there and made a simple little diorama out of both models.

Don't worry about the superglue either, we all go through that one as well! Sometimes you could try PVA for photo etch as it is a lot easier to manage and reduces in volume nicely when it dries.

I think you're being your own worst critic. Those are two nice models very well presented,as Richard said the bases lift the whole affair from a "model on a shelf" to a little scene with much added interest. Nice work.

Superglue Eh! If I had a quid for every time I'd stuck a virtually invisible piece of photoetch to my finger/trousers/work bench/wife/next door's cat e.t.c. I could afford another Zoukei Mura Ta 152.

      Cheers

Nicely done Andrew. Very simple but really effective. I like the idea of posing the pilot sat on the steps; that way, you get to see all the cockpit detail as well! I may well copy that myself if you have no objection!
