For Red 12 the fuselage was RLM 76 with a mottle of RLM 75, though at least one veteran recalled the fuselage being RLM 75 with a mottle of RLM 76 (i.e. reversed application).

    Lower surfaces were black.

Red 12 had what appears to be a solid colour on the upper surfaces of the wings and presumably tailplanes. This is evident in one photo, taken from behind, with the aircraft in British hands and sporting RAF roundels. It's a guess, but RLM 71 or RLM 81 which was supposed to replace it would be my choice.

I think that Welter was usually associated with Red 10, but I'm not at home and my memory isn't what it used to be

Humbrol 247 = RLM 76 but I think you'll need to lighten it a bit with some white, particularly for late production aircraft.

    Humbrol 246 = RLM 75

Humbrol 242 = RLM 71 for 81 I'd use the same, these colours were closer than many seem to think.

You can use any dark grey you like for the black.

    Cheers

Thanx Steve. I will have to go look at the HU #'s you have there. My HU color chart does not show those high #'s, must be an old chart.

Was the 76 more to the light grey side than the "blue-ish" one finds in the tin?

Late in the war it seems to have become lighter and less blue. Whether this was due to problems with the paint or the very thin applications typical on late war aircraft I know not. RLM 76 was always a more grey blue than the earlier RLM 65.

I think that those colours were released late last year, but I may be open to correction.

        Cheers

Thanx Steve. Here is my attempt at "eye mixing" what ever paints I had to get the splinter camo. It droed more to a RAF color that I had hoped, but ah well it is just a fun build.

As for the fuse color, I have some HU 122 or extra colour "light grey"

Witch one woulfd you go for?
