    AD-4NA Skyraider 1/72 conversion

    Hello everyone!

Its my first venture on to this forum.

I am planning a AD-4NA conversion from one of the currently models - probably the Hasegawa AD-6. There is no current AD-4NA available. Clearly there is work to do, particularly on the fuselage sides - taking out the brakes and adding access doors, plus the different under-wing pylons (I might leave the armour plating of the Hasegawa kit).

Can anyone her offer advice as to the best way to tackle the access doors? My thought has been to make plasticard doors from very thin card and then glue them on. It may not be entirely accurate but for my purpose it might work.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts and guidance. Thanks.

Cannot offer advice on aircraft, mainly a water type craft person myself, but welcome to the forum Martin. Sounds an interesting build and I'm sure that the guys will be able to offer good tips.

Welcome to the forum. What a very good question to start off with.

Not sure of the best kit to start with but as the 4NA was a modified 4N. If you can find one of those it might make a good start point...

        Thanks Ian.

Yes, my first venture back in to the world of modelling since I was a teenager - in the late 1970s! Up to that point my bedroom was filled with models of all types. Since that time I've not gone back... till now.

With regards to the Skyraider specifically I am inspired by a new found e-friend who was a Skyraider pilot for many years, flying the AD-4NA model. I know it presents a challenge as here is some conversion work but I'm up for that! However, I need a bit of hand-holding until i get in to the stride of it! Thanks for the link, by the way.

PS: I'm wondering if I've put this thread in the wrong place!? I have now found a specific aircraft forum!!! Nevertheless I'm happy to be amongst modellers again!

No worries Martin. I moved this to the aircraft chat section....

When you start your build, if you wish to share that with us, you can start a thread in the Air craft bit In Under Construction.

I am also waiting on a Skyraider to turn up from Germany.....More when/if it arrives...
